The Minds Behind the Expedition
Founded in the heart of Austin's tech hub, IT Learning Camp was built on a single premise: technical mastery is earned through struggle, simulation, and persistent curiosity.
The Expedition Story
Our journey began in 2018 in a small coworking space in Austin, Texas. Marcus Thorne, a veteran cloud architect frustrated with the lack of practical skills in fresh graduates, decided to create a bootcamp that ignored the traditional slide-deck approach. He wanted to build a place where students were given the 'keys to the kingdom' and told to fix what was broken.
By 2020, as the world moved increasingly towards remote infrastructure, IT Learning Camp expanded rapidly. We launched our proprietary 'Virtual Wilderness' lab environment, which allowed us to scale our immersive methodology to learners across the globe. We didn't just survive the transition to digital education; we thrived by doubling down on the intensity of our hands-on simulations.
Today, IT Learning Camp is recognized as a premier destination for professionals who are serious about their technical growth. We have moved from that small coworking desk to a state-of-the-art facility on Tech Ridge Boulevard, where we continue to refine our curriculum to match the rapid pace of the global technology market. Our history is one of constant adaptation, much like the IT systems we teach our students to manage.

Mission & Core Values
Our compass is guided by three fundamental principles that ensure every student graduates with more than just a certificate.
Practical Mastery
We prioritize hands-on lab time over theoretical lectures. Every concept is reinforced through active deployment and troubleshooting in our unscripted environments. We believe that if you haven't built it, you don't truly understand it. Our students spend over 70% of their time within the Virtual Wilderness.
Adaptive Learning
Technology never stands still, and neither do we. Our curriculum is updated quarterly to reflect the latest stable releases from major cloud providers and the newest threat vectors in cybersecurity. We teach our students how to learn, ensuring they remain relevant long after they leave the camp.
Ethical Deployment
With great technical power comes great responsibility. We instill a strong sense of digital ethics and proactive defense in all our graduates. Whether architecting a cloud solution or defending a network, we emphasize the human impact of technical decisions and the importance of integrity.
Our Lead Instructors & Leadership
